The Costco Nightmare

Oh my dear God, I have never felt so overwhelmed as I did at Costco on Sunday. Korean's have one goal when they run errands--to do it as fast as possible. There is nothing leisurely about their daily agendas. They move a million miles an hour and don't wait for anyone else who isn't on the same page. They don't care about waiting their turns in line, or whether not they might clip someones ankle with a shopping cart if they try to rush through a tight space.

Upon arriving at Costco, I decided to get some food with the group I was with. When you eat at a food court, you pay for your food then you get a receipt that you exchange for your food at a window. There were five or six registers servicing about 100 Koreans and me and only one window to pick up your food. I paid for my food and went to wait at the window in the enormous line. People kept cutting in front of my and bumping into me. I got the idea it was a free-for-all but didn't want to cut because I was unsure if it was acceptable. I get to the front after what seems like a lifetime, and my food wasn't ready. I felt like food being carried by ants as I was whirlwinded back to rear only to wait again. So about another fifteen minutes later I finally get my food. Now that I had gotten my food, I was confronted with the real problem--nowhere to sit. So here I am standing with my hands full, already stressed from the commotion and inconvenience, standing there like a lost puppy, hands full, getting knocked around like a pinball. My temprature was rising almost beyond control as people continued to rush all around me bumping elbows, nearly knocking my food out of my hands. Long story short, I find a place to sit and eat my crappy food.

All of this frustration is building up, and we hadn't even started shopping. We got to where the food was and began to look around. Pushing a shopping cart in there was like bumper cars, with the emotion of being stuck in an endless traffic jam. We finally get what we needed and went to check out. We pay for our food and are ready to leave. But just to add to an already crappy experience, they didn't provide bags for the purchased goods. So we had to wade through the masses carrying armfulls of merchandise.

What A Nightmare! Never shall I return to Junchan-dong Costco! I am sorry that my posts are becoming so poorly written. I have not slept for more than a couple of hours a night for the past two weeks, even though I have gotten a new mattress pad and comforter. The point is that my affinity for grammar has faded with my loss of sleep.

KICKS ASS: I have had a long day. But I am home now and watching Shawshank Redemption (one of my favorite movies). And I had a really smooth class with "THE ALL STARS" today, if you have been reading my posts.

SUCKS ASS: I can't sleep, and I don't know why!
