I am don't mean to make a habit of using crappy song titles as titles for my blogs. It may seem a bit contrived, but I am not doing it on purpose; I promise.
I was just wrapping up my last class on Thursday when a fellow teacher knocked on the door and told me that everyone was going to go out for dinner and drinks. I accepted the invitation and was very excited to get to know them better. After work we all hopped into their cars and drove off to a nice restaurant. We all drank a lot of Soju and ate a lot of food. We had a blast talking and getting to know each other. Then the mayhem started. One of the newest teachers, the one I interviewed and recommended to Mr. Gu, had too much to drink and was being very forward with me, trying to hold my hand under the table and so on. I was not having it. Beyond the ethical argument of taking advantage on intoxicated people, there is the professionalism issue--it is unprofessional to be intimate with co-workers. I felt that way, but she, apparently did not.
She continued to bug me the rest of the meal until we decided to go to a singing room for Karaoke. Long story short, I sang a little Backstreet Boys and some Bon Jovi and put on quite a show. The intoxicated co-worker turned into Janis Joplin right before our eyes and was entertaining us very much. But, what goes up must come down. Eventually the night wore on, the firewater did its job, and my pants got ruined.
Thankfully, I work at a different campus on Friday and don't have to see this co-worker for about four days. It should help it to be a little less awkward.
QUICK DISCLAIMER: Some who read this may object to the fact that I am speaking about a co-worker in a less than positive light. But I did not mention her name, will never mention her name, no one at work will ever read this blog, and I am writing about my experiences in Korea--The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
KICKS ASS: My co-workers, generally speaking, are a blast to hang out with, and I hope to do it again soon.
SUCKS ASS: Pukey Pants (oh the smell!)
